Acupuncture

Medical Acupuncture or Dry Needling involves very fine needles being inserted into particular muscles within the body.

Although originally derived from Chinese acupuncture, western medical acupuncture does not use the concepts of Yin/Yang or flow of Qi but rather is now considered a part of conventional healthcare to help treat musculoskeletal conditions, including myofascial trigger points or ‘knots’ to help alleviate pain in the short term.

It works by stimulating the nervous systems causing a local increase of blood flow to the area of needling and blocks the pain signals going to the brain. It also has a systematic effect releasing the natural produced endorphins and serotonin (the feel good hormones) in the spinal cord and brain again reducing/blocking the pain signals going to the brain.

All of our Chiropractors are trained in the use of medical acupuncture and will be able assess and tailor treatment to you as an individual.
